</b></font><font face="Technical" size=4>Richard Zaldivar’s vision,
leadership and commitment led the struggle to create the first
public-privately funded AIDS monument in the nation - The Wall/Las
Memorias Project located in Lincoln Park in the heart of East Los
Angeles. The wall is a memorial to the people who have died of AIDS and
serves as a reminder that we must continue the fight against denial,
discrimination and stigma against those living with HIV/AIDS. Mr.
Zaldivar has continued to distinguish himself as the director and founder
of The Wall/Las Memorias Project a non-profit organization dedicated to
empower the Latino community on issues of HIV/AIDS education and
prevention. Its mission is to "To preserve the AIDS monument as an
inspirational tool to educate the community about cultural denial,
HIV/AIDS and to promote activism and healthy living".
