and doctoral graduate of Columbia's former School of Library Service. He founded the University Science Fantasy Society in the late 1960s and wrote his 1981 dissertation on "<a href="http://clio.cul.columbia.edu:7018/vwebv/holdingsInfo?bibId=252942" target="_blank">Modern
science fiction and its reception by the American literary and educational communities, 1926-1970</a>."

to describe in words how exciting and important this addition to the Columbia Libraries is. CUSFS's independent library has been focusing on adding more current science fiction to our collection, but it's equally important to learn and read about the stories
that came before and in many ways created the foundation for the genres we know today. This gift will allow future generations to continue to explore the rich history of science fiction and fantasy, and it's incredible to know that such a large part of that
