of the postdoctoral scholar inaugural contract from a few weeks ago, this is to
let you know that UCOP is working with appropriate offices at each campus to implement
the across the board (ATB) salary increase due the postdocs for September 2010
(in the 10/1/10 paycheck).&nbsp; Based on discussions thus far, UCOP will be
providing campus with a customized program to implement these ATB salary
increases for the applicable title codes, tentatively scheduled for the end of
next week.&nbsp;&nbsp; It has come to our attention that some of the academic
departments may have already made the entries for these required salary
increases in PPS, which will cause major problems because it will result in
duplicative salary increase actions for postdocs (i.e., doubled the required
salary increases agreed to by the postdoc contract).&nbsp; Therefore, I am
seeking your assistance in distributing this email to those in your org
unit/departments responsible for postdoc employment matters and request them to

August 12, 2010, Postdoctoral Scholars in the University of California system
voted to ratify their first collective bargaining agreement.&nbsp; Tentative
agreement on the contract was reached on July 31 after 18 months of
bargaining.&nbsp; At UCR we recognize the vital role of Postdoctoral Scholars
in the advancement of science as well as their very significant contributions
to this university&#8217;s stature in the research community.&nbsp; We take
pride in the fact that this university has striven for some years to support
and enhance the working conditions of these scholars,</span> beginning with the
implementation of APM 390 in July, 2003. <span style='font-family:"Times New Roman","serif"'>&nbsp;With
the signing of this agreement, APM 390 is no longer operative; and we are now
required to implement the provisions for postdoctoral scholar
appointments.&nbsp; To that end, we want to highlight some of its key elements:<o:p></o:p></span></p>
