many passions was the internationalization of American Studies. Indeed,
he was one of the initiators of its transnational turn, rethinking
political, geographical and disciplinary borders. Emory was himself a
transnational scholar, nurturing scholars in all parts of the world. In
honor of his memory, this interdisciplinary conference considers American
cultures within a transnational context.<br>
