What is at stake in the Congressional battle over health care reform?

What kinds of health care bills are currently under consideration and how

might they change the U.S. health care system? Why is there so much

resistance to the ‘public option’ and ‘single payer’ plan even among

Congressional Democrats? How can we best promote the human right to

health care within the United States?<br><br>

</tt><b>Dr. Jo Olson</b> is an Assistant Professor of Clinical

Pediatrics, practicing full time at the Childrens Hospital of Los

Angeles. Double Board certified in Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine,

Dr. Olson sub-specializes in medical care for youth with HIV, transgender

youth and youth with chronic pain conditions. She spends her free time

tirelessly advocating for the implementation of a single payer healthcare

system in California, and eventually, the United States. She is the proud

mother of two year-old Alexandra Gossett, who makes the fight for health

care reform even more imperative, and makes every day just a little

brighter. <tt>Brad Parker is a prolific political writer and speaker as

well an award-winning recording artist, songwriter, producer and

musician. Parker owns Indie label Riozen Records and is a co-founder of

<a href="http://www.muzlink.com/" eudora="autourl">www.muzlink.com</a>.

and Jo have played leading roles in the Progressive Caucus of the

This event is funded by the UC Miguel Contreras Labor Studies Development

Fund and an Office of Instructional Development Instructional Innovation

and Excellence Grant. It is co-sponsored by the Inland Valley Labor
