Listed below is a sample e-mail that you may wish to use to convey the
iEVAL option to your faculty:<br>

<font face="Times New Roman, Times"><br>
</font><font size=4><i>Dear Faculty:<br><br>
The Office of Instructional Development is pleased to offer iEVAL as an
option for the Spring 2008 course evaluations. iEVAL uses the same
questions as the UCR Faculty Instruction Evaluation Form and can provide
final results as early as the first day of instruction of the following
quarter (<b>Monday, June 23, 2008</b>). <br><br>
</font><font face="Times New Roman, Times" size=4>iEVAL will be available
to students </font>starting <font size=4 color="#0000FF"><b>Wednesday May
28 – Midnight on Sunday, June 8</b>.<br>
</font><font face="Times New Roman, Times" size=4><br>
Benefits to iEVAL are:<br>
1) Students can respond at any time thus freeing your class
time<br>
2) You don’t need to worry about getting evaluation forms from your
department, finding a volunteer to administer the evaluations, and hoping
that all the evaluations make it to the Office of Instructional
Development for processing<br>
3) Final Course Evaluation Reports for Spring 2008 will be
available to faculty on iEVAL on the first day of instruction of the
following quarter
</font><font face="Times New Roman, Times" size=4 color="#0000FF">(<b>
June 23, 2008</b>)</font><font face="Times New Roman, Times" size=4>,
paper evaluations will not be available until the end of <b>AUGUST
2008</b><br>
4) Students provide more indepth comments and behave more maturely
than in the paper format (online comments require minimal to no editing
for profanity and inappropriate comments)<br>
5) In reviewing past course evaluation for faculty participants the
ratings remained consistent with their historical results. The
response rates are lower than the paper evaluation but we are working on
improving this by developing creative ways of encouraging and advertising
iEVAL to the students<br>
6) iEVAL is environmentally friendly. Each quarter we process
over 30,000 paper evaluations and print over 1,500 final reports that are
distributed to faculty and department chairs. iEVAL can be
processed and viewed online. The system also archives evaluations
dating back to Winter 2005, providing quick and easy access to these
important records.<br><br>
To participate in iEVAL please send your name, course, faculty ID, and
net ID (this can be found at
<a href="http://enterprisedirectory.ucr.edu/phone/tel_search.show">
http://enterprisedirectory.ucr.edu/phone/tel_search.show</a> ) to your
department representative or you can select your preferred method of
evaluation at <a href="http://www.ieval.ucr.edu/">www.ieval.ucr.edu</a>
. Faculty who have used iEVAL as of Fall 2007 will default to
iEVAL, and will not need to do anything to sign up. Instructional
Development will send you an e-mail confirming your participation and the
courses that will be evaluated on iEVAL one week before the system
becomes available to the students. Final results of iEVAL
will be available to you on Monday, June 23, 2008.<br>
