iEVAL option to your faculty:<br>

</font><font size=4><i>Dear Faculty:<br><br>
The Office of Instructional Development is pleased to offer iEVAL as an
option for the Winter 2008 course evaluations. iEVAL uses the same
questions as the UCR Faculty Instruction Evaluation Form and can provide
final results as early as the first day of instruction of the following
quarter (<b>March 31,2008</b>). <br><br>
Benefits to iEVAL are:<br>
1) Students can respond at any time thus freeing your class
time<br>
2) Final Course Evaluation Reports for Winter 2008 will be
available to faculty on iEVAL on the first day of instruction of the
following quarter (<b>March 31, 2008</b>), paper evaluations will not be
available until the end of May 2008<br>
3) Students provide more indepth comments and behave more maturely
than in the paper format (online comments require minimal to no editing
for profanity and inappropriate comments)<br>
4) In reviewing past course evaluation for faculty participants the
ratings remained consistent with their historical results. The
response rates are lower than the paper evaluation but we are working on
improving this by developing creative ways of encouraging and advertising
iEVAL to the students<br>
</font><font face="Times New Roman, Times" size=4>5) iEVAL is
environmentally friendly. Each quarter we process over 30,000 paper
evaluations and print over 1,500 final reports that are distributed to
faculty and department chairs. iEVAL can be processed and viewed
online. The system also archives evaluations dating back to Winter
2005, providing quick and easy access to these important
records.<br><br>
As of Fall 2007 27% of UCR courses selected to use iEVAL. The
overall response rate is 49%. The average response rate for large
courses is as follows:<br>
Courses with enrollments over 100=44%<br>
<br>
Courses with enrollments over 200= 39%<br>
<br>
Courses with enrollments over 300= 43%<br>
<br>
Courses with enrollments over 400=43%<br>
<br>
If you have any questions please contact
<a href="mailto:gladis@ucr.edu">gladis@ucr.edu</a>. To participate
in iEVAL please send your name, course, faculty ID, and net ID (this can
be found at
<a href="http://enterprisedirectory.ucr.edu/phone/tel_search.show">

department representative or you can select your preferred method of
evaluation at <a href="http://www.ieval.ucr.edu/">www.ieval.ucr.edu</a>
. Evaluations will be made available to your students during week
<b>March 5-16</b>, and the results will be available to you on the first
day of instruction for Spring 2008 (<b>March 31, 2008</b>).<br>
