Dear All:

As the time for course evaluations approaches we are pleased to continue
to offer faculty the option of using the new online course evaluation
system, iEVAL. As of Fall 2007 27% of UCR courses were evaluated
using this system. We hope to continue to increase the campus
participation. There are many benefits to using iEVAL, here are
just a few:

We do all the work! - Once you let us know who wants to
participate and what courses they teach...your work is done! We send
students several personalized reminders encouraging them to provide
feedback on the instruction they received for the quarter.

Faculty feedback –
We provide faculty frequent feedback on the response rate
DURING the process...while they can still do something about it.

Quick access to
evaluations - on-line evaluations become available on the next
quarter's first day of instruction (i.e. Winter 08 evaluations will be
available on March 31, 2008, paper evaluations will not be
available until the end of MAY!)

Quality of evaluations is high
- We find that students provide more constructive feedback
on-line. We do much less editing for inappropriate comments and
profanity than with paper evaluations.

Please
let your faculty know about the option of using iEVAL! Faculty who
participated in iEVAL as of Fall 2007 will automatically default faculty
to this option. If faculty wish to continue using this system they
will not need to do anything. If they would like to opt out of
iEVAL then please ask them to go to
www.ieval.ucr.edu

Faculty who did not use iEVAL in Fall 2007 can select to use iEVAL by
letting you know and you can then provide OID with the attached
spreadsheet. It is essential that we have the following
information, faculty's name, ID number, net ID (this can be found at

http://enterprisedirectory.ucr.edu/phone/tel_search.show ) and ALL
the courses they wish to have evaluated. The deadline to submit
your department list is Friday, February 22. Approximately a
week later we will provide you with a final list of all courses that will
be evaluated online. The faculty will also receive a detailed
e-mail advising them on how the process works and the timeline that the
evaluation will be made available to their students. iEVAL
will be made available to students from Wednesday March 5 – Midnight
on Sunday, March 16.

OR

faculty can go online to
www.ieval.ucr to sign-up.
Although the sign up process is simple, we found that many faculty
preferred to sign up through their department.

Immediately following this e-mail I will forward an e-mail that you may
use to convey the iEVAL option to your faculty. Please contact me
if you have any questions.
