We are now in our fourth week of the quarter and now it's time to turn
our thoughts towards the grading option. If you are contemplating
using iGrade for Winter quarter 2008, please be sure to sign up and
double-check yourself to ensure that you have completed the appropriate
steps. Last quarter, there were several instructors who thought that they
had signed up for iGrade, only to find out at the last minute that they
were scheduled to use paper grade sheets. It is the responsibility of the
lecturer/teaching assistant to sign themselves up for the iGrade option.
<br><br>
Just as a reminder, all teaching assistants are required to meet with
Professor John Briggs prior to submitting their final grades
online. A interview sign up sheet will be placed in the English
Department copy room at the end of the tenth week, and an announcement
will go out reminding TAs to sign up. Again, if any TA decides to
use iGrade, please double-check to ensure that your online option was
completed appropriately. As in the past, all attendance
rosters and syllabus must be submitted to me after meeting with Professor
Briggs.<br><br>
<b><i><u>Those lecturers and teaching assistants who are teaching ELWR
courses, will not have the option to sign up for the iGrade. All
grades will be submitted on the paper Grade Rosters through the Entry
Level Writing Program. If you have any questions or would like more
information regarding ELWR grading, please contact Laurie Petty, Linda
Strahan or Kathy Moore in HMNSS 1102.<br><br>

Pleas see the below copy of a message that will be distributed to <br>
faculty via Scotmail this week regarding the use of iGrade, the UCR<br>
electronic grading system. <br><br>
Your assistance in assuring that all instructors in your unit are<br>
aware of the availability of iGrade as well as its associated deadlines
<br>
for sign-up and grade submission would be greatly appreciated. In<br>
particularly, visiting faculty and lecturers who may not be regular<br>
users of a campus webmail account may not receive or regularly<br>
review Scotmail and could benefit from a reminder from you.<br><br>
For future reference, please note that the sign-up dates to
participate<br>
in iGrade will always be between the beginning of the fourth week of<br>
the quarter and the end of the eighth week.<br><br>
Technical questions and considerations about iGrade should be <br>
forwarded Mark Nicolay or Joel Nylander in Computing and <br>
Commnunications. General questions about grading and grading<br>
policies should be sent, as always, to the Office of the

Some additional advantages to using iGrade:

<li>You'll have less paperwork.
<li>You'll be able to submit grades from anywhere (as long as there is
Internet access).
<li>Your students' grades will be available immediately upon your
submission.

To take advantage of the electronic grade submission in iGrade, please
log into iGrade and change your grading preference <b>prior to</b>
<b>Friday, February 29, 2008 at 06:00 p.m. </b>To do so:<br>

1. Log in at
<a href="http://igrade.ucr.edu/">http://igrade.ucr.edu</a> using your UCR
Net ID and password.<br>
2. Select the iGrade option in the "Submit
Method" column. (You'll notice that all classes have been
preset to "Paper," so you must click on the "iGrade"
option to utilize the electronic submission.) Please do this for
each class.<br>
<b><i>3. Please note that grade method choices
for the Winter Quarter 2008 must be submitted between Monday, January 28,
2008 and Friday, February 29, 2008 at 6:00 p.m. If you do not
select iGrade during this time, you will be sent a paper roster.<br>
