Dear Colleagues,<br><br>
On Monday April 9th, from 10am to 12 noon, Austrian Film Maker Harald
Friedl will be showing his documentary "Aus der Zeit"<br><br>
("Out of Time") and discussing his work, as part of CPLT 15.
<br><br>
I would like to invite you and your students to the event, please feel
free to bring a class if you have one at that time, or encourage students
to go. (University Villages Cinema, theater 8, 10am-12noon, Monday April
9).<br><br>
"Out of Time" (German with English subtitles) is a documentary
film about several small, locally-owned stores in Vienna, Austria, that
have existed close to 100 years, and whose existence is threatened by the
spread of chain 5-and-dime stores throughout Europe. It is a fascinating
reflection on current culture, and European history, memory, and, well,
neat little stores that were once "the place to go" rather than
a novelty. Harald Friedl himself will on hand to discuss the film and his
work.<br><br>
I would be delighted if you could make it! Please come and encourage your
students to come, too, if they can!<br><br>
Sincerely,<br><br>
