The summer institute of the Inland Area Writing
Project is hosting a presenting by George Hillocks of the University of
Chicago this Tuesday, July 12, at 9:30 am in Watkins 2240. Visitors
are welcome. Professor Hillocks will be discussing his decades of
research on the effectiveness of various composition pedagogies.
His books include <i>Ways of Thinking</i>, <i>Teaching Writing as
Reflective Practice</i>, <i>The Testing Trap</i>, and the seminal
<i>Research on Written Composition</i>.<br><br>
The presentation will run from 9:30-12:30.
Visitors are welcome for all or part of the session. I hope that
some of you will have the opportunity to attend. You will be able
to meet one of the most widely respected scholars in the field of
rhetoric and composition. <br><br>
