I am pleased to announce a truly remarkable achievement. Our emeritus
colleague Jack Vickery has had two major books accepted by university
presses in the same year. <br><br>
<x-tab> </x-tab><i>The
Elegiac Temper, </i>which runs, in typescript, to over 400 pages, plus
notes and bilbliography, has been accepted by Louisiana State University
Press, and is scheduled for publication in the Spring of 2006. The
book deals with a number of poets, from Siegfried Sassoon to Thom
Gunn.<br>
<x-tab> </x-tab><i>Some
Modern Prose Elegists,</i> which runs in typescript to over 300 pages,
plus notes and bibliography, has been accepted by the Director of the
University of Missouri Press as of March 1, 2005; the publication date is
forthcoming. <i>Some Modern Prose Elegists</i> deals with a number
of novelists and short story writers, from Henry James to Joan
Didion. <br><br>
Please join me in congratulating Jack on his rich and productive
scholarly effort. <br><br>
