Hello, hello. I'm Kamala, I'm 25 and I'll be working mostly in fiction. I was living in Chicago the past year applying to grad school, tutoring at the 826 center there and enjoying a snowy winter/humid summer. I lived in Portland for two years before that, where I did some interning and odd jobs, like taking school photos. I also grew up in the Bay Area and got my BA in creative writing at Oberlin College. I'm typically glued to the Internet, often eating snacks and I occasionally make songs on garageband. I've been away from writing for a bit so I'm excited, now, to jump back in and look forward to reading, writing etc. with all of you!<br>

Great idea, Melissa!<br>

Hi, I'm Andrea Gutierrez, a first-year. I've just moved back to SoCal from<br>
Berkeley where the spent the last three years working at UC Berkeley and<br>
generally running amuck around the Bay Area. I grew up in Orange County (OC,<br>
not *the* OC), where my family still lives, attended Scripps College in<br>
Claremont for undergrad where I earned my BA in German Studies in 2004, and<br>
am somewhat astonished that I'm back in the IE for grad school. My focus is<br>
Nonfiction, though I was drawn to the cross-genre nature of the program at<br>
UCR and will make my way around if given the chance. These days I spend my<br>
time contemplating how not to get killed while biking Canyon Crest,<br>
reminding myself that I'm back in the land of hot summers and I don't need<br>
that sweatshirt, and trying not to get jacked by internet providers.<br>
<br>
I should probably also mention that I magically ended up as the Graduate<br>
Student Association Academic Affairs Officer for CHASS, so I'd imagine I'll<br>
be working with Melissa, among others, this coming year to bring our issues<br>
to the GSA.<br>

Hi all,<br>
<br>
I?m Jonathan Hahn, a first year with a fiction / non-fiction cross-genre<br>
(emphasis in fiction). I received my BA at UC Berkeley with a major in<br>
English and a minor in Philosophy. I attended the Radcliffe Publishing<br>
Course (recently relocated to Columbia and now called the ?Columbia<br>
Publishing Course?) and worked for several years in New York book publishing<br>
(Bantam Doubleday Dell before it was Random House Inc. and Warner Books). I<br>
left New York and returned to California several years ago to specialize in<br>
social justice communications and advocacy work for humanitarian non-profit<br>
organizations.<br>
