                  <h2><i>GRAPHITE</i>,</h2><p> the HAMMER and UCLA's interdisciplinary journal
of the arts, is accepting submissions for the 2009-2010 issue! The
journal will consist of scholarly papers from several disciplines, art
criticism, and original art work. Both undergraduates and graduates can
submit to the journal. </p>
                  <h2>MIDNIGHT ON FRIDAY, JANUARY 15, 2010.</h2><p><i>GRAPHITE </i>is looking for eloquent and
innovative papers and art criticism written by undergraduates and
graduates including but not limited to the fields of Art, Art History,
Musicology, Architecture, Comparative literature, English, Philosophy,
Women's Studies, Linguistics, Classics, European Studies, French and
Francophone studies, Italian, German, East Asian Studies, World Arts
and Cultures, Anthropology, and Sociology. </p>
                  <ul>
                    <li><p>Papers should be original work, properly cited
using <a href="http://www.chicagomanualofstyle.org/tools_citationguide.html" target="_blank">Chicago
Style Manual</a>, Humanities, using FOOTNOTE notation. </p>
                    </li>
                    <li><p>Papers should be no longer than 2000 – 3000
words double-spaced. </p>
                    </li>
                    <li><p>Images within the body of your essay should be
accurately cited. </p>
                    </li>
                    <li><p>Art Criticism should be 500 – 1000 words
double-spaced. Examples of art criticism could include exhibition,
concert, and art event reviews. </p>
                    </li>
                  </ul><p>We are also interested in submissions of original
student art work.</p>

                    <li><p>Images should be high quality scans (300 DPI,
at least 8 x 10 in TIFF or JPG format) and should be sent in CD format
