Dream Street documents the development of Dream Street, a subdivision in Ontario, California. McCulloh haunted Dream Street with his camera and interviewed the builders, workers, and prospective homebuyers to chronicle the evolution of this new neighborhood. McCulloh’s work focuses on the construction workers and the first-time buyers struggling to purchase a piece of the California dream. Many of the hopeful buyers who visit Dream Street are turned down for loans as well, and by mid-2008, more than 200 houses in the surrounding area faced foreclosure.</div><div style="margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; min-height: 14px; "><br></div><div style="margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; ">"Dream Street is a disturbing yet moving portrait of lives indentured to that ruthless outdoor sweatshop known as the home construction industry. He holds an MFA in photography and digital media from Claremont Graduate University and his photography has been exhibited widely in the United States, Europe, China, and Mexico. Mike Davis (Creative Writing, UCR) was named a McArthur Fellow in 1998 and is author of more than 20 books, including <i>Prisoners of the American Dream</i>.
