</span></font>AL YOUNG</b>'s honors include fellowships from Guggenheim,
Fulbright, and the NEA, two American Book Awards and two New York Times Notable
Book of the year citations. The Poet Laureate of California, his many novels,
poetry collections, essays, memoirs and anthologies have been translated into
more than a dozen languages. <br>

<br>
<b><span style='font-weight:bold'>EILEEN MYLES </span></b>is both a virtuosic
performer of her own writing and a prolific author--<i><span style='font-style:
italic'>Sorry, Tree</span></i> (poems, wave books) is the latest of more than
twenty collections of poetry and fiction (including <i><span style='font-style:
italic'>Chelsea Girls</span></i> and <i><span style='font-style:italic'>Not Me</span></i>)
libretti (<i><span style='font-style:italic'>Hell</span></i>), performances,
and plays. She's also contributed essays, articles and reviews to <i><span
style='font-style:italic'>The Nation</span></i>, <i><span style='font-style:
italic'>Book Forum</span></i>, The Village Voice, and others. She has been
Artistic Director of St. Mark's Poetry Project, and she conducted a write in
candidate for President in 1992. Currently she is a Professor of Writing at
UCSD.<br>
<b><span style='font-weight:bold'>Moderator: <br>
JEWELL PARKER </span></b><b><span style='font-weight:bold'>RHODES</span></b> is
the Director and Endowed Chair of ASU's Piper Center for Creative Writing. She
is author of seven books, including: <i><span style='font-style:italic'>Voodoo
Dreams</span></i>, <i><span style='font-style:italic'>Douglass' Women</span></i>,
and <i><span style='font-style:italic'>Porch Stories</span></i>. Her awards
include: the American Book Award, the NEA, an American Library Award, and the
PEN Oakland for Outstanding Writing.</p>
