Subject: Follow-up to UCR Colloquium on Peace in Iraq
Tuesday<br><br>
This is a cordial invitation to attend a follow-up planning meeting for a
"Peace Colloquium" on the escalating Iraq War. The
meeting will take place on Tuesday at 12:30 to 2:00 pm in room HMNSS 2412
March 6. Please dissimate to all interested
parties.</blockquote><br><br>

<blockquote type=cite class=cite cite="">As a professor in the Department
of Ethnic Studies; a human rights activist; and as a former officer in
the United States Army, I am extremely concerned about the escalating
Iraq War Crisis that increasingly seems to be expanding into a wider
regional conflagration that could involve Iran and the rest of Middle
East. I have spoken about the matter to various faculty members,
graduate undergraduate students, and community people and all concur that
the timing is propitious for UCR, as an intellectual community, to hold
such a colloquium where the Iraq War issue and its divergent points of
view can be debated. I urge you to attend this very important
meeting. Please inform and invite those you think are interested in
participating in such an event to be with us. More specifically,
for department chairs please inform and invite your faculty, graduate and
undergraduate students. For Student Program Directors, I urge you
to notify the various student organizations. And for all others,
please take the initiative and invite others as well.<br><br>
In closing, these are difficult and challenging times, our UCR
intellectual community, has a responsibility to provide the intellectual
setting and space to debate the issues that<br>
