Candidates should have had professional success in screenwriting for cinema and related media and/or hold a terminal Ph.D. or MFA degree. Knowledge of cinematic forms and traditions outside of the Hollywood model is vital. Teaching experience and work that has been realized on screen are further qualifications sought in the ideal candidate. The ability to also teach in the areas of film production or cinema studies is a distinct advantage.<BR> <BR> RESPONSIBILITIES: The Department seeks a versatile screenwriter who can teach a range of screenwriting courses at the graduate and undergraduate levels. Our students produce work in short fiction and non-fiction, documentary, animation and experimental formats, as well as feature scripts. Other duties include supervising master’s thesis projects and independent study projects, working with undergraduate students to help develop their<BR> projects, undergraduate major advising, curriculum development and other committee assignments.<BR> <BR> APPLICATION DEADLINE: Review of applications will begin January 2, 2007 and will continue until position is filled.<BR> <BR> APPLICATION PROCEDURE: Applicants should submit the following: 1) a letter of application indicating professional and academic experience, approach to teaching and goals as a potential colleague at SFSU; 2) current CV; 3) two copies of at least one sample screenplay (preferably two screenplays); 4) samples of syllabi from courses taught or proposed in screenwriting and samples of other courses taught; and 5) a list of three references with contact information.
