</span></b>Pedro Serrano<b><span style='font-weight:bold'> </span></b>is an
accomplished poet, scholar, critic and translator. He is the author of
four poetry collections: <i><span style='font-style:italic'>El miedo,
Ignorancia, Tres voces </span></i>and <i><span style='font-style:italic'>Turba,
</span></i>and he is well known for his excellent Spanish translations of
Shakespeare and of modern British poets. Mr. Serrano wrote the libretto
for the opera <i><span style='font-style:italic'>Las Marimbas de
l’Exil, </span></i>which toured through </span></font><font
size=2 face=Times><span style='font-size:10.0pt;font-family:Times'>France</span></font><font
size=2 face=Times><span style='font-size:10.0pt;font-family:Times'> and </span></font><font
size=2 face=Times><span style='font-size:10.0pt;font-family:Times'>Mexico</span></font><font

Times'>Amy Uyematsu is a <i><span style='font-style:italic'>sansei</span></i>
(third-generation Japanese American) poet and high school math teacher from </span></font><font
size=2 face=Times><span style='font-size:10.0pt;font-family:Times'>Los
Angeles</span></font><font size=2 face=Times><span style='font-size:10.0pt;
font-family:Times'>. Her first book of poems, <i><span style='font-style:
italic'>30 Miles from J-Town</span></i>, won the 1992 Nicholas Roerich Poetry
Prize. A second collection, <i><span style='font-style:italic'>Nights of
Fire, Nights of Rain</span></i>, was published in 1998. In 2005 her third
book, <i><span style='font-style:italic'>Stone Bow Prayer</span></i>, was
published.<br>
Uyematsu's poems have been published in hundreds of literary journals and
anthologies. Her work has been included in the Poetry Society of
America's Poetry in Motion, (poetry on the buses), on the Poet of the Month
Poetrynet website, and in the NEA's national recitation contest for high school
students, Poetry Outloud. <br>
