<P class=style9 align=left><FONT size=2>In the next few decades,
California’s population is expected to grow by an estimated 12 million,
further increasing demand for additional housing. But the type of housing
constructed could be more varied than in the past. Attention is expected
to turn more toward compact, mixed use development in urban areas that are
less dependent on the use of an automobile. More densely populated
neighborhoods, walkable to retail and other commercial activity and
possibly to mass transportation, will become more popular, some experts
say.</FONT></P>
<P class=style9 align=left><FONT size=2>That change has already started in
California’s older coastal communities, where infill development is
transforming vacant or underutilized land into new housing, commercial and
public facilities, said <STRONG>Meea Kang</STRONG>, President of Domus
Development LLC and President of the California Infill Builders
Association.The Infill Builders group was established last year to help
control suburban sprawl by promoting infill development.</FONT></P>
<P class=style9 align=left><FONT size=2>Ms. Kang will discuss the barriers
and benefits to infill development and present successful case studies of
infill projects at the next Randall Lewis Seminar Series. The seminar will
be held at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 29 in Conference Room B, UCR
Extension Building, 1200 University Ave. in Riverside.</FONT></P>
<P class=style35 align=center><FONT size=2>About the Speaker</FONT></P>
<P class=style9 align=left><FONT size=2>Meea Kang is President of Domus
Development LLC, which specializes in socially- and
environmentally-conscious infill development. She is a founding member and
President of the California Infill Builders Association, a not-for-profit
organization working to control sprawl by promoting infill
development.</FONT></P>
<P class=style9 align=left><FONT size=2>Ms. Kang is a leader in forming
innovative partnerships to bring transit-oriented, mixed-use, and
mixed-income housing to communities throughout California. In her career,
Ms. Kang has assisted in the development of more than 2,000 infill housing
units in the state.</FONT></P>
<P class=style9 align=left><FONT size=2>She was honored in 2011 as a
Northern California Real Estate Woman of Influence and in 2010 was awarded
the Sierra Business Council’s Visionary 2020 Award. The California Air
Resources Board recognized her company as a Climate Leader taking
proactive steps to reduce climate change through smart growth.</FONT></P>
<P class=style9 align=left><FONT size=2>Ms. Kang earned a Master’s degree
in Architecture from UC Berkeley and a BFA from Cornell
University.</FONT></P>

<P class="p style38" align=left>Randall Lewis is well known for his
innovative approaches to planning, designing, and marketing residential
communities as Executive Vice President of the Upland-based Lewis Group of
Companies.
<P class="p style38" align=left>He is regarded as an industry leader in
promoting the arts, education, healthy living and sustainable development
initiatives. He has been President of the Inland Empire Arts Foundation,
Secretary of the Los Angeles County Citizens Planning Council, director of
the HomeBuilder's Council, and national director of the National
Association of HomeBuilders.
<P class="p style38" align=left>Mr. Lewis was named in the Los Angeles
Times 2006 “West 100” list as one of the top 100 influential people in
southern California. He has also received the California Business
Properties Association Champion of the Industry Award and has been
inducted into the California Building Industry Association Hall of Fame.
<P class="p style38" align=left>Mr. Lewis is a long time ULI member as
well as a Governor of the ULI Foundation. He serves on several executive
boards, including the USC School of Policy, Planning and Development, the
UCLA School of Public Policy, Loma Linda University Medical Center’s
Orthopedic and Rehabilitation Institute Advisory Council, Cal Poly
Pomona’s National Development Council, and co-chairs the San Bernardino
County Alliance for Education.
<P class="p style38" align=left>He is recognized as an expert in the real
estate industry and is frequently quoted in various newspapers, magazines
and trade journals. Randall has over 30 years of experience in the real
estate industry.
<P class="p style38" align=left>He received his B.A. from Claremont
