The University of California , Riverside is proud to announce its<b>
First Annual Symposium for Undergraduate Research, Scholarship and
Creative Activity</b>. This event is scheduled for Saturday, May 5, 2007
and will be held on the UC, Riverside campus. The Symposium will
celebrate the research, scholarship, and creative activities carried out
by undergraduate students. <br><br>
Students in all disciplinesthe arts, humanities, sciences, and
engineeringpresent their faculty-mentored projects to audiences of
peers, faculty and administrators, as well as have their abstracts
published in the <i>Symposium Proceedings</i>. <br><br>
<br>
<h2><b>This means there will be</b> – </h2>
<ul>
<li><b><i>performances </i></b>of dance, music, theatre <br><br>
<li><b><i>readings </i></b>of creative writing, scripts, poetry <br><br>
<li><b><i>oral presentations </i></b>about all academic disciplines
<br><br>
<li><b><i>viewings </i></b>of video and film <br><br>
<li><b><i>poster presentations </i></b>about all disciplines <br><br>
<li><b><i>exhibits </i></b>of drawing, painting, photography, printmaking
<br><br>
<li><b><i>displays </i></b>of sculpture, ceramics <i>– the list goes on
and on. <br><br></i>
</ul>Are you interested? Here is a quick list of the steps you must
complete to submit your abstract and participate in the Symposium.
<ol>
<li>You must be involved in faculty mentored research, scholarship or
creative projects. This means you have worked or are working with a
faculty member on a research, scholarship or creative project.
<li>You must submit an abstract of your project describing the project –
its specific topic, problem, method of inquiry, summary and conclusions.
Abstracts will differ according to disciplines, so work with your faculty
mentor while drafting your abstract.
<li>You must choose the presentation style that best fits your project –
oral presentation, poster presentation, performance, exhibit or display.
Presentation style will differ from discipline to discipline, so consult
with your faculty mentor when choosing how you will present your research
or project.
<li>If you are a part of a group of students presenting a project, only
one abstract needs to be submitted. Include all of the names of the
student participants in the submission form. The same stands for multiple
faculty mentors for a project; please list all of their names.
<li>Abstracts may be submitted from February 2, 2007 through April 16,
2007. Your faculty mentor must approve your abstract before submission.
You will be asked to verify faculty mentor acceptance.
