Hi Everyone,<br>

</font>This quarter's BGSA meeting will be sometime during the second
week of April. I will try to figure out when TA meetings are and plan
it at a time when everyone can attend. There are a couple of things
below that you should all be aware of before the meeting.<br>
<font color="#3333ff"> </font><br>
1. Elections and Biology Retreat: At this quarter's meeting, we will
be holding elections for the positions of President and Vice
President. The BGSA President is invited to faculty meetings and
serves as the voice of the graduate students. If you have any
questions about the position, you are welcome to come by and speak to
me. Other past BGSA presidents include Robin Tinghitella, Greg
Russell, Denise Raterman and Susan Gershman. The Vice President serves
as the head of the Retreat Committee and generally helps out with
things like coffee half-hour etc. This is a newly created position and
is designed to allow for the possibility of gaining experience in BGSA
before running for president. This year, there will be 3 additional
members on the retreat committee. With 4 people working together to
plan the retreat, no one person will be overwhelmed with the planning
and hopefully the committee will find planning the retreat a rewarding,
instead of stressful, experience. Please consider volunteering to be
on the committee and let me know if you are interested. <br>

2. Coffee Half-hour and Projector duty: The sign up sheets for this
quarter are on the back of the door in the mail room. Please sign up.
If everyone signed up, people would only have to do coffee half hour
once a year. When this doesn't happen, the same people get stuck doing
it every quarter. If you have never done coffee half hour (we all know
who you are), please
make an effort to sign up this quarter. If you have questions about
what is involved in doing either coffee half-hour or projector duty, I
am available to answer them. As always, keep in mind that
the large coffee maker we have now takes about 30 min to brew a whole
pot. There are instructions with the coffee maker in the cabinet in
the Darwin room. <b><font color="#000099">Important: I especially
need
someone to sign up for coffee half hour and projector duty for the
first week in April because I will be out of town.</font></b><br>
