As a result of the recent AAALAC inspection of campus vivaria
space, Physical Plant will perform repairs to painted surfaces on doors
and door frames in the Spieth and Psychology vivariums.

According to Bill Schmechel, Director, Research Integrity Office, work
may start as early as tomorrow, December 16, with the bulk of the work to
be performed before the holiday break. The entire project is
tentatively scheduled for completion mid January.

Given the work is primarily focused on doors and door frames, freshly
painted animal room doors will remain open for a period of 4 - 6 hours
for drying. Painters must use an oil based product therefore, it
will emit an odor that is a bit more pungent than the water based
products typically applied to walls. Of course, Physical Plant
personnel will employ efforts to mask the odor and ventilate the
space.

Should you have questions or concerns regarding this matter, please
direct your comments to Bill Schemchel, x24810.

Regards, Dan
