about two student training programs and to ask your assistance in
assessing the need for – and interest in – technical short courses
designed for individuals working at the interface of the Atmospheric and
Biospheric sciences. <br>

<font face="Times New Roman, Times" size=1 color="#3366FF"><b>1.
DOCTORAL STUDENT TRAINING PROGRAM - FUNDING FOR UP TO 2 YEARS!! <br>
</b></font><br>
<font face="Times New Roman, Times" size=1>The Biosphere-Atmosphere
Research and Training (BART) Program is an NSF-IGERT training program for
doctoral students who are conducting research at the interface of these
disciplines. Students enrolled in any doctoral program in the
United States (U. S. citizens or permanent residents) can win a
fellowship for up to two years. Fellowships include an annual
stipend ($30,000), up to $2,000 for equipment or supplies, and support
for travel to the University of Michigan Biological Station (UMBS) and to
a professional conference. BART fellows participate in an 8-week
residential training program at the UMBS in Pellston, MI for 2 summers
and continue in their doctoral program during the academic year.
Summer training includes a course in the essentials of
Biosphere-Atmosphere interactions, workshops, and research conducted with
the guidance of faculty mentors with expertise in biospheric and
atmospheric sciences. </font><br>
