</b>Last week, in a meeting with key Physical Plant personnel, the Campus
Veterinarian and Biology vivarium staff, a preliminary itinerary to the
abatement and replacement of the water damaged floor in the Spieth
basement was developed. Abatement and installation of the new floor
will be accomplished in phases. Below is the preliminary
agenda:<br><br>
<font size=3 color="#0000FF">Phase 1- Physical Plant Carpenters will
remove the gas cylinder racks adjacent to the machine shop where new VCT
(vinyl composite tile) flooring is being installed. Physical Plant will
relocate the cylinders to a caged area on the loading dock.<br><br>
Physical Plant will abate the area from the gas cylinders to the first
set of double doors in the hallway including the small area to the south
that joins the hallway to LSP.<br><br>
Abatement will be performed at night. Physical Plant will be
responsible for overseeing the VCT installation on the floors. <br><br>
Phase 2 - Work will continue down the hallway (east) and stop adjacent to
Room #335. Room #330 will be abated and new VCT Flooring will be
installed. The cabinet located in the center of the room will be removed
and replaced after flooring is installed by Physical Plant. Dan will be
responsible for removing the desks and shelves from Room 330.<br><br>
Phase 3 - Work will continue down the hallway and stop adjacent to Room #
344. Damaged floor in Room #344 will be abated and replaced. Dan
will be responsible for removing the furniture from this room.<br><br>
Phase 4 - Continue work from Room # 347 and stop adjacent to Room # 352.

Phase 5 - Abatement and replacement of floor from Room #356 to the stairs
at the east end of the corridor. <br><br>
</font>The start date (tentatively mid July) has not yet been established
pending the selection of vendors (and their schedules) contracted by
Physical Plant that will perform the abatement and floor
installation.<br><br>
